Amann, 94, of Eckelson, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at home in Eckelson, ND.
Visitation will be from 5 PM until 7 PM Friday Dec. 20th at Sacred Heart church in Sanborn, ND with a Rosary/Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Funeral Mass. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church at Sanborn, ND on Saturday Dec. 21st at 11 A.M. with Father Arogya Gadagotti celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery later in the spring.
Luella was born in Jamestown to Ludvig and Martha Wanvik on February 8, 1919. She went to high school at Leal High School and graduated in 1937. She worked at the Valley City Public Library for over 25 years, the FHA Office, and for many years was the Eckelson Township Clerk and Treasurer. Throughout the years Luella was actively involved and volunteered time to the School Board, the American Cancer Society, and politics. She had many friends from the Birthday Club, Church Circle and Christian Mothers. She also enjoyed being an Election Judge for many years. She was very passionate about being involved to make a difference in the community and the state of North Dakota. She fought long and hard for peace and justice causes all of her life.
Luella was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbert Altringer, her sons, Gary and Louis, and daughter Rosemary, and her two sisters, Minda and Clara.
Luella is survived by her husband, Richard, children, Joan, Doug (Patricia), William (Jeanine), Janet (Thomas), Paul (Gayle), and Mary (Rick), and 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Luella will be remembered as being very intelligent, compassionate, non-judgemental, caring, strong, and very hospitable. In the words of Edward Kennedy, Luella would say, “The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dreams shall never die. “
