CITY (VCSU) – Valley City State University football players Derek Elliott and George Trujillo have been honored with postseason accolades by Beyond Sports Network.

 Elliott, a senior running back from Valley City, N.D., was named First Team NAIA All American by Beyond Sports Network after a record-breaking season. Elliott broke or tied at least 13 different school records this year at VCSU, and finished second in the nation in regular season rushing yards.

Trujillo, a junior offensive lineman from El Paso, Texas, was named an Honorable Mention to the BSN NAIA All American team. Trujillo is a two-time all-conference player who anchored a dominant VCSU offensive line that helped Elliott reach his record-breaking numbers this season.

The Viking football team finished the 2013 season 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the North Star Athletic Association, earning a share of the conference title.

The official NAIA All-American team, as voted on by the American Football Coaches Association, is scheduled to be released next week.
