N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – There have been questions raised about the official snow removal policy for the city of Jamestown.

According to City Administrator Jeff Fuchs, it’s pretty much a judgment call. They have a general list that they follow. Fuchs said when 2 inches of snow falls, plowing commences on emergency snow routes and drifted areas. At 3 inches, plowing and removal begin on downtown streets.

Fuchs stated that they would not send out snow removal crews until the snow event ends. When 4 or more inches falls, the city enters “Full Mode”, which consists of crews working around the clock after snow has stopped.

Fuchs stated that usually after 48 hours, crews have the streets pretty well cleaned up. Crews are currently cleaning up emergency snow routes.
