Jennie Moriarty, age 82, of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, November 29, 2913, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.

     Geneva Viola Erstad, known as Jennie, was born August 13, 1931 at Twin Valley, MN, the daughter of Nels and Inga (Jory) Erstad. The family moved to Jamestown, ND, where Jennie attended school until moving to Carrington, ND. While living in Carrington, Jennie worked 21 years as a clerk at JCPenney.

     In 1969, Jennie married Doran “Red” Moriarty in Carrington. Following their marriage, they moved to Wahpeton, ND, where he attended NDSSS. They moved to Kerkhoven, MN, later to Pennock, MN, and then to Wheaton, MN. Red died at Wheaton in 1992. Jennie returned to Jamestown where she lived until moving back to Carrington for a couple of years. She then moved to Jamestown where she lived until two years ago when she entered Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.

     Jennie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington. She was a champion bowler, and participated in league bowling until she was in her 70’s. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching TV.

     She is survived by one daughter, Paula (Steve) Stromstad, Audubon, MN; two sons, Joseph (Karla) Moriarty, Baxter MN, and Michael Moriarty of Mpls-St. Paul, MN; two grandchildren Alex and Elly Moriarty; one sister Helen (Merlin) Heinitz, Jamestown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Jennie was preceded in death by an infant son Robert, and infant daughter Colette, her husband Doran “Red”, three sisters, Margaret, Muriel, Kitty, and one brother Nels, Jr.

     Visitation will be on Monday 2PM – 8PM, and Tuesday 9AM – Service at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

     Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2:00PM in ?Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

     Burial will be at Carrington Cemetery, ?Carrington, ND.
