Ann Loh, age 94, of Valley City succumbed to endometrial and abdominal cancer on Nov. 29, 2013 at her home.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 am Wednesday Dec. 4th at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr. Dennis Skonseng celebrant.  Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 pm Tuesday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:30 pm.  Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Ann was born Nov. 15, 1919 in Gladstone, ND to Peter and Anna (Bayer) Simon.  She married John Loh in Thompson, ND on Nov. 15, 1938.  Ann and John lived in Dickinson, ND and Aberdeen, SD before making their home in Valley City, ND in 1957.  While living in Valley City Ann successfully completed the Dale Carnegie Course in 1959 and went on to be a Graduate Assistant in 1960.  She also took courses at Valley City State University.
Ann was proud to be a volunteer at the Nearly Nu in Valley City.  She served with many other selfless volunteers who generously and joyfully gave of their time.  As a consequence many close relationships were developed.  It was important to Ann that the Valley City community know that the Nearly Nu has been in operation since 1965 with volunteers who wanted nothing more than to give of themselves.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John and son Gary; her two brothers Joe and Matt Simon; and her two sisters, Kate and Elizabeth (who passed on Nov. 3 2013 at the age of 96).

She is survived by her daughters: Jean Ann (David Kelley), Gaylene (Michael Jellison), Beverly (Keith Burand), and Kathy (Jeff Dickinson), a son Perry Loh (Margarita), and a daughter-in-law Kathy Schaak Loh.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ann’s memory may be directed to: Valley City State University, St. Catherine’s School, and the Valley City Public Library.
