N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Mark Coppin will be honored among 9 others nationwide by the White House as “Champions of Change”.

According to the White House, 10 education leaders who creatively use technology to help kids learn will be deemed as “Champions of Change.” The event will be privately streamed at 2:00 PM ET on Thursday, November 21st.

Mark Coppin, the Learning Center Manager at the Anne Carlson in Jamestown, will be honored as part of President Obama’s ConnectED Initiative, which aims to connect all of America’s students to high-speed wireless internet within five years.

“I’ve assisted with technology and persons will disabilities for about 27 years now. I never thought I’d end up going to the White House for something like this. It’s exciting and totally unexpected.”

Mark was nominated for his service to children with special needs and using computer equipment.

“I’ve evaluated and found different ways for students with special needs to access and use technology such as computers and mobile devices. I started using it with kids and started doing more and more with technology. Then I moved to the classroom.”

Honorees were selected from thousands of nominees.
