(NewsDakota.com)- For an 18-point road loss it certainly didn’t feel that way for most of the first 35 minutes. Minot State was able to add to their lead late in the game and put away the Jimmies in a game that was close throughout. The Beavers picked up their second win of the season with a 85-67 win over the Jimmies in a game that was an exhibition for Jamestown.
Carly Boag’s 29 points, 25 of which came in the second half, was too much for the Jimmies to overcome as the Beavers made it an emphasis in the second half to feed the ball into the 6’2″ post. “She’s a legit first-team All-American in NCAA Division II, said Jimmie Head Coach Greg Ulland after the game. “We couldn’t stop her, we ran two and three girls at her and couldn’t slow her down.”
He later joked that he hopes the Jimmies don’t have to see anyone else like her in the regular season. They won’t.
Carly Jensen finally found her grove from beyond the arc nailing a quintet of three point fields en route to a team-high 18 points.
It looked like Minot State was pulling away right before the end of the first half as they extended their lead as high as 10, but the Jimmies closed the half on a 9-0 run to tie the game at 32.
Jamestown shot just 31% from the field and made just four of their first 25 field goals.
The Jimmies remain at 6-1 and will play another exhibition Saturday in Sioux Falls against Augustana. Next broadcast of Jimmie basketball will be Wednesday against Dickinson.
