Mark Scott Johnson, age 51, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Platte, SD.  Mark was born the son of Marvin and Marcy (Bjerke) on August 1, 1962. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Nome, ND.  He graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1980.  Mark attended Valley City State University earning an Associate Degree.  Mark then ranched with his brother Gary until 1993.

     In 1989, Mark married Melissa Mack in Pettibone, ND.  In 1993, they moved to Tappen, ND where Mark was employed as a farm/ranch hand. The family moved to South Dakota, in 2005, where Mark continued to ranch.  He was currently working at Dakota Manufacturing in Platte, SD.

     He is survived by his children, Kade and Kara Johnson both of Platte, SD: sister Barb Johnson, Spicer, MN, brothers: David (Kathy) Johnson, Atwater, MN, Gary (Michele) Johnson, Kathryn, ND, Monte (Pat) Johnson, Valley City, ND, brother-in-law, Marlyn Maasjo, Fingal, ND, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Marcy Johnson and his sister Gail Maasjo.

     A prayer service will be held on Friday, November 15, at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte, SD.  Visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the prayer service begins at 4:00 p.m.

     The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church, rural Nome, ND.  Visitation will be held at the church an hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in St. Petri Cemetery, rural Nome.
