(NewsDakota.com) After losing in five games earlier this year, the Oakes High School volleyball team defeated the Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah Rebels three games to one on Monday night; punching a ticket to the Class B Region I Tournament.
The #5 seeded Rebels took the first set 25-23, then the #6 seeded Tornadoes took game two by the score of 25-14. FCT won game three 25-20 to take the lead in the match, but Oakes won the last two games by scores of 25-21 and 15-12 to move on to Kindred next week while sending FCT home in the process. Oakes had a total of 42 kills in the match.
Oakes (16-17-1) will keep their postseason drive going next Monday when they arrive in Kindred for the opening round of the Class B Regional Tournament to play Central Cass (34-3). Coverage of Oakes throughout the tournament will be heard on KDDR-AM 1220 and NewsDakota.com
