Griggs, 51, of rural DeLamere, ND, passed away November 2, 2013, at Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.
Elaine June, daughter of Ole and Alice (Bilben) Dalberg was born June 14, 1962 at Sisseton, South Dakota. She attended school in Veblen, South Dakota, graduating from Veblen High School with the class of 1980. She lived in Sisseton, South Dakota for a few years before moving to Lidgerwood, North Dakota. Elaine met Brad Griggs of DeLamere, North Dakota, and they were married on her birthday, June 14, 2002 at Deadwood, South Dakota. She always looked forward to going to Deadwood each year with Brad, to celebrate her birthday and their anniversary.
Elaine worked at various places over the years, including Lundstrum Ministries, Dakotah, Inc. in Veblen, Primewood, Inc. in Wahpeton, and most recently at Dakota Plains Cooperative in Wyndmere.
Elaine loved all animals, and especially enjoyed being around cows, horses, and dogs. She was a kind hearted, generous person, always giving to everyone. Elaine and her son, Bradley became very close, as it was just the two of them until she met Brad. The happiest times of her life were when her son, Bradley was born, and when she met the love of her life, Brad. Elaine loved life, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Brad; her son, Bradley Dalberg, Wahpeton, ND; step-children, Jeremy Griggs and Jessica Griggs, both of Milnor; eight siblings, Mavis (Darwin) Osterman and Gail (Keith) Kelly, all of Sisseton, Ardes Peterson, Watertown, SD, Norman (Kathy) Dalberg and Harold (Melissa) Dalberg all of Claire City, SD, Lorraine (Carlton) Fletcher, Clinton, MN, Beverly (Dennis) Vig, Veblen, and Connie (Kermit) Anderson, Lidgerwood; her father-in-law, Dale (Nola) Griggs, Harwood, ND; mother-in-law, Carol Griggs, Clovis, CA; sister-in-law, Bobbi Jo Griggs, Milnor; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Joanne Roth, a sister-in-law, Brenda Peterson, and many special friends.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, November 5, 2013, at the Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor, ND. Her memorial service will be Wednesday, November 6th, at 11:00 a.m. also at Milnor Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of DeLamere.
