N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Numbers for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program have show roughly 937 households participating in the month of September.
Approximately 1,637 individuals were helped under the 937 households. Starting November 1st, SNAP benefits will be reduced to all households due to the end of the program’s federal stimulus package from the Recovery Act in 2009.
All households that will experience the reductions were notified by local officials and no one is being cut from the program.
SNAP is used for low-income families and can be used only to purchase food. About 42% of North Dakota households on the program have earned an income.
