(NewsDakota.com)- The University of Jamestown women’s basketball were ranked as the No. 10 team in the country in the first NAIA basketball poll of the 2013-14 of the season. The Jimmies are coming off back-to-back 27-win seasons and trips to the NAIA Round of 16.
Jamestown is 3-0 already having beaten three teams from Canada. Over the next week and a half they will be tested by two teams that join them in the Top-10, Northwestern (IA) and Concordia (NE).
Friday, the Jamestown Civic Center will host a Top-10 Showdown between the Jimmies and Northwestern College Red Raiders (No. 7) and on Saturday UJ will play Dordt College. Next week, the Jimmies head to Seward, NE to play in a tournament at Concordia. They will play No. 5 Concordia on Friday evening (11/8).
The Jamestown men are currently receiving votes in the Top-25 and would be No. 35 if you extended the poll. The men will play the same schedule this weekend, but will play Oklahoma Wesleyan and Culver-Stockton in Seward next week. All of those teams will be ranked with the exception of Dordt.
They also have a trip to Albuquerque on Wednesday to play the University of New Mexico.
The only games in the next 10 days that won’t be on the radio will be the Northwestern games on Friday due to the Jamestown football teams appearance in the Class AAA playoffs.
