(NewsDakota.com) The Griggs Barnes County Titans hosted Turtle Mountain last Friday night for parents nights in Class 2A High School Football. The Titans won 29-8. GBC ends their season at 3-4 and 3-6 overall, The Braves end their season at 2-5 and 3-6 overall.
The Titans would strike first when Senior running back Wyatt Steckler would get his first of three touchdowns with just under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. Steckler would follow Senior fullback Derek Eberle from three yards out for the score. The Titans defense would create a safety with 5:42 left in the second quarter making it 9-0 Titans. With about 30 seconds left in the first half, Sophmore quarterback Jayden Grover would connect with Wide Receiver William Gerntholz for an 8-yard touchdown reception, making it 15-0 Titans at the half.
GBC would not waste any time to start the third quarter, on the kickoff, Steckler would would run it back from 90 yards out for the kickoff return making it 22-0 GBC. About three minutes later, Steckler would score again, this time from 50 yards out for the rushing touchdown. Unofficially Steckler had nine carries for 115 yards with two touchdowns and one kickoff return. Grover was 5 of 8 for 94 yards and one touchdown. Grover completed two 35-yard passes to Hunter Engel and Cole Diede.
Players of the game for GBC on offense was Grover and Steckler. On Defense it was Diede and Engel, as they had one interception each.
