N.D. (AP) – A group that handles accreditation for colleges and universities has postponed a visit to North Dakota to investigate a complaint over leadership in the higher education system.

The Chicago-based Higher Education Learning Commission had planned the trip before the end of the year, but The Forum newspaper reports that the trip has been delayed until next spring.

Former Valley City State University President Ellen Chaffee filed the complaint in April amid a controversy surrounding what some called an overbearing leadership style by then-University System Chancellor Hamid Shirvani. The board bought out Shirvani’s contract in June of 2013.

State Board of Higher Education members and system office staff have been meeting in an attempt to fix other issues raised in the complaint.
