CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) A second upset was not in the stars on Saturday night, as the Hi-Liners fell to the #3 Fargo Shanley Deacons at Hanna Field by a score of 39-14.

The Visiting team got out to an early lead in the first quarter when Danny Stasch took the ball 52-yards to give the Deacons a 6-0 lead.

Valley City would respond on the next drive, when John Halgrimson rushed the ball past the Deacons to tie things up, a two point conversion from Ben Baasch would give the home side the early lead.

The Deacons would not stay down, taking the lead back before the half on a 39-yard pass from Chase Montplaisir to Tre Fort.

After half time, the Deacons took over the game scoring one touchdown in the third quarter and three more in the final quarter of play. Valley City would return to the end zone one last time in the fourth, when Lucas Jurry scored on a 13-yard run.

The loss drops the Hi-liners to 3-5 on the season.  They will look to end the year on a high note at Central Cass next Friday, October 25th. You can hear the game on 1490 KOVC starting at 6:30pm
