(NewsDakota.com)- Twice in the game the Jimmies trailed by two scores, but the second time they were not able to put the final points on the board. Dakota State escaped with a 31-28 win on Saturday at Rollie Greeno Field.
The Trojans jumped up 21-6 after a defensive touchdown when Aaron Licht picked up a fumbled exchange between Beau Eriksson and Chris Johnson and ran it in for a touchdown. The Jimmies lone touchdown was a 54-yard touchdown run by Beau Eriksson on a read-option keeper.
Jamestown came back to tie the game at 21, with a pair of touchdowns.
Derrick Dohmann’s touchdown catch pulled the Jimmies within two and then Trent Roemmich hauled in a two-point conversion to tie the game.
Dakota State scored the next 10 to retake control 31-21. D’Marco Smith capped off the next drive with his second short touchdown run of the day to pull the Jimmies within three, but that would be as close as they got.
The Jimmies will be off this weekend, before returning to action on October 26th in Valley City against the Vikings.
