(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes City Council held their monthly meeting earlier this week.

The Oakes Police department will be supplying a School Resource Officer for the Oakes School through a COPS grant. The grant is for three years. The possible locations of a new landfill for the City have all been denied by the state Department of Health. Waste Management will be picking up trash during the week of October 14, and recycling has been pushed back to October 22.

The City has received a grant from the state Forestry Service to remove diseased elm trees in the parks and along boulevards with the stipulation that the removals must be completed by the end of next year.

The next meeting is set for November 4.
