CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City resident Bob Drake is concerned about a number of increased fights that have spilled out into parking lots near bars in Valley City over the last few weeks.
Drake believes a “citizen’s watch patrol” could work to assist the police department. He suggested arming citizens in his original public forum request to the city but he backed off on the idea once he addressed the city commission last night.
City attorney Russ Myhre says he would not recommend arming citizens for a watch patrol.
Drake didn’t know how to solve the issue of police responding to increased fight calls in Valley City but he wanted the commission to be aware of it.
