CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A man being held in the Barnes County jail as a suspect in a Minneapolis shooting last weekend that killed one man and wounded another has an extradition hearing set for today.

States Attorney Lee Grossman says 21-year-old Cedric Chappell Jr has a court appointed attorney.

Chappell was arrested Tuesday at Valley City State University. He is charged in Hennepin County, Minnesota with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

22-year-old Willie Smith of St. Paul was fatally shot outside the Blue Nile restaurant and bar about 2 a.m. Saturday. Another man was shot in the leg. A criminal complaint says a fight started inside the bar, spilled out into the parking lot and two groups started shooting at each other.

Valley City StateU spokesman Greg Vanney says the student has been suspended from the university.
