N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Dr. Temple Grandin, an accomplished adult with autism, will be the keynote speaker for the 2013 Fall Character in Leadership Conference at the University of Jamestown on October 10th.
Dr. Grandin has been the professor of animal science at the Colorado State University for twenty years and is world famous for her contributions in the livestock industry. She has become a champion for individuals with autism. In 2010, she was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.
Her life story was made into an HBO movie “Temple Grandin”, starring Claire Danes. The movie won seven Emmy awards and a Golden Globe award. Incoming Freshman to the University of Jamestown have watched the film as a “common experience” during orientation. All students who have entered the University of Jamestown have come to know Temple Grandin and her story through the film.
Her talk is entitled “My Views on Leadership.” The Workshops will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the keynote address is from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Seating is free to the public, but seats must be reserved ahead of time. Tickets can be secured through the University of Jamestown box office tickets@jc.edu.
