Wilfred “Bud” Wipperling, age 89, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of New Rockford and Carrington, ND, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at his home under the care of Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice.
Wilfred Wipperling was born on July 2, 1924, the son of Fred and Freda (Thaden) Wipperling on the family farm near Brantford, ND. He attended Columbia Township country school.
On September 14, 1946, Wilfred was united in marriage to E. Bernice Heringer at her parents’ house in New Rockford. They had a farm in Tiffany Township until 1965, when they bought and moved to the family farm. In 2002, they moved into Carrington. Due to health problems, they moved to Jamestown in August of 2010.
Bud was able to fix anything and was creative and a talented woodworker. He was very proud of his woodshop. Bud made 12 grandfather clocks, several mantel clocks and a scroll cathedral clock as well as many other wood projects. He was a master at fixing clocks.
He was a 4-H leader, served on Columbia Township Board, a lifetime member of Central ND Steam Threshers Reunion, a member of the Good Sam Club, and enjoyed traveling. Bud was an active member at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Rockford prior to moving to Carrington where he became a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Bud will be remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 67 years, Bernice, Jamestown; 8 children, Wade (Sue) of Spokane, WA, Jean (Mark) Dunn, Pierre, SD; Dennis (Kathy) of Bloomington, MN, Steve (Gloria) of Wishek, ND, Cindy (Wayne Karger) Wipperling, Lake Park, MN, Doria (Mathew) Burthold, Bismarck, ND, Lisa Wipperling, Dickinson, ND, and Rodney (Audrey) of Baker, MT; 18 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Faye Goodno, Woodbury, MN.
He was greeted in heaven by his parents; step-mother, Esther; 2 brothers, James “Wendel” and Fred “Harley”; 1 sister, Helen Dungan; and 2 grandchildren, Benjamin Hubbard and Amy Spravzoff.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013, at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, Carrington, ND.
A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday at 7:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND.
Visitation will be on Sunday, 1:00 – 7:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND, and one hour before service at the Church.
Burial will be held on Monday at Barlow Cemetery, Barlow, ND.
