CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) For the third time in seven years a Valley City based company has been recognized as one of the best in the nation.

Chief Financial Officer Steph Ness has been with Grotberg Electric for 14 years. She says the prestigious national ranking of 3,300 is the result of hard work by so many employees who work for the company.

Grotberg’s annual revenue doubled from $6.2 million in 2009 to $12.2 million in 2012. Today the construction company employs 85 people compared to 60 back in 2009.

Tragically, on August 24, Grotberg President Steve Welken passed away in a car crash south of Valley City. He was the company’s president for 4 years. Ness says Steve was so proud of the company’s national recognition. She says Welken was a great guy and boss and is truly missed by so many people in the community.
