(Betty) Feist, 93, of LaMoure, ND, formerly of Berlin, ND, entered into eternal life at Rosewood Court Assisted Living on September 26, 2013, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Elizabeth Mathern, daughter of Ignatius and Julianna (Schmaltz) Mathern was born on June 25, 1920 in Strasburg, ND. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Kasper Feist on May 14, 1945 at Strasburg, ND. They made their home in the Strasburg area until 1947, when they moved to the Berlin, ND area where they farmed.In 1958, they moved into Berlin. Kasper died on May 18, 1996.

Betty was a hard working, loving, and caring woman. She endeared herself to everyone with whom she had contact. She was beloved by her friends and family and she was especially fond of her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always looked forward to the weekly visits from her children. These visits always included laughter and information from the week’s activities. Her faith was an important part of her daily life, saying numerous Rosaries every day. She was a wonderful cook, and her famous dumphnoodla was a family favorite, and continues to bring the family together. She was also a member of the Berlin Ladies Auxiliary, LaMoure Ladies Auxiliary, the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and the St. Rose Circle.

Betty is survived by her children, Alfred (Ginny) Feist, Barneveld, WI, Don (Karen) Feist, Berlin, Julie (Fred) Evert, LaMoure, Marie (Monte) Clauson, Carlton, MN, Linda (Joseph) Neis, Edgeley, Kathy (Richard) Moch, Edgeley, Connie (Kevin) Willey, LaMoure, Monica (Eugene) Sandness, LaMoure, and Richard (Donene) Feist, Edgeley; 32 grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kasper, brothers, John, Mike, Blase, and Joe, and one sister, Helen Brennan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaMoure. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 5-7 with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m., also at the church.
