CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City State University final enrollment figures for fall semester 2013 show a headcount of 1,366 students. The total includes 1,211 undergraduate students, along with 155 graduate students.
The enrollment figure is a 4-student increase over the fall semester 2012. VCSU enrollment reached all-time high in 2011; since then enrollment has remained relatively stable, with the fall 2013 numbers reaching the third highest total in the university’s history.
VCSU President Steven W. Shirley says, “That’s quite an accomplishment given that we graduated our largest class ever last spring. He added, perhaps most important is the stability we’ve been able to maintain since our record enrollment of 2011.”
Another positive sign with the enrollment numbers is an increase in residence hall occupancy in fall 2013; those numbers increased 10.9 percent over fall 2012 figures. Recent upgrades to the residence halls, along with a complete renovation of the VCSU cafeteria, have helped attract students back to the halls according to Shirley.
VCSU recently completed construction on a $10.3 million renovation and addition to Rhoades Science Center. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Rhoades Science Center Addition will be held Friday, October 4 at 1:30pm. The public is welcome to attend.
