CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After a strong showing over the weekend, the Valley City Hi-Liners volleyball team returns to Eastern Dakota Conference play tonight at Grand Forks Central.
Over the weekend the Hi-Liners hosted their annual Optimists Tournament in Valley City. With 24 Class A and B teams in attendance, Valley City had a strong showing finishing third overall. After pool play, the Hi-Liners dropped the semi-final match up to LaMoure, setting up a meeting with the Carrington in third place game. The Hi-Liners took both games earning the honorable finish.
Valley City will look to carry on that same momentum tonight when they take on Grand Forks Central. The Knights are a tough opponent coming into the matchup, with a 4-1 record in conference play. The Hi-Liners have not seen the same success, holding a record of 1-4 in the EDC. With over a month to play in the season there is still plenty of time for Valley City to catch up. With the Hi-Liners just four games behind the EDC leader, Fargo Shanley, Valley City will look to make a late season run, much like the one they made over the weekend.
