N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A New Rockford, North Dakota man was injured in a crash 4 miles North of Pingree North, Dakota at 7:57 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Joseph Schmaltz, 62 of New Rockford, was injured when another vehicle driven by Vladimir Zubarev, 23 of Citrus Heights, California, decided to change lanes and pass another vehicle in dense fog.
Schmaltz steered right to avoid the crash and Zubarev steered right as well. The vehicles sideswiped each other and both came to rest on the northbound shoulder of Highway 52.
Schmaltz was transported by ambulance to Carrington Hospital for his injuries. Zubarev was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
