Josephine Carlson, 94, of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

     Josephine Grommish was born on October 2, 1918, near Courtenay, ND, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Stabenow) Grommish. She grew up and attended school in the Spiritwood Lake area. Josephine worked at the Gladstone Hotel and restaurants in Jamestown. She married Fritz J. Carlson on February 13, 1952 in Moorhead, MN. They made their home on a farm near Windsor, ND, and then moved to Jamestown in 1960 where Josephine worked for Jamestown Café and other restaurants.

     Josephine is survived by her son, Roy (Dernel) Carlson, Wimbledon, ND; daughter, Alice Carlson, Jamestown; five grandchildren, Royce (Andriea) Carlson, Damaris Lorenz, Elizabeth (Mark) Peterson, Jessica Carlson, and Derek Carlson; three great grandsons, Blake, Jasper, and Caleb.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter Grommish and Quentin Grommish; and one sister, Violet.

     Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

     Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

     Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
