(NewsDakota.com)- In a match that had its bleak moments for the Jays, they responded in the final set to grab a victory over the defending state champion Century Patriots (25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 15-10) Tuesday night at Jerry Meyer Arena.
After jumping in front of Century with a pair of early wins, the Jays couldn’t find their grove in either the third or fourth set. In the fifth, Jamestown trailed 9-7, before storming ahead with four straight points.
Addie Eamon, who had 20 kills, finished off the match with the final kill giving Jamestown a much needed victory over Century. Jamestown and Century will meet again in late October.
The defense of Jamestown kept the strong hitters of the Patriots in check, McKayla Orr lead the Jays with 30 digs. Meghan Orr also had 22.
Jamestown improves to 3-0 in WDA play. Century goes to 4-1.
The Jays will Dickinson on Thursday. The next radio broadcast will be Tuesday at Bismarck High.
