Kurth Lommen age 54 of Kathryn, ND died at his home on Sept. 12, 2013. A Celebration of Kurth’s life will take place at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City at 6:30 PM Friday Sept. 20th.

Kurth Randall Lommen was born in Brookings, SD on Nov. 20, 1958 to Alan and Dorothy (Heyerdahl) Lomen. He moved with his family to Dickey, ND at the age of 13 and later to LaMoure, ND and Valley City, ND.

Kurth loved to travel and lived in many different areas of the United States. While living in Fargo he met Kathleen Mahar and they were married on May 8, 1998. Kathleen had two daughters, Allyson and Amanda who he took into his home and they all moved to the Kathryn, ND area. After the girls were grown Kurth and Kathleen continued to make their home at Kathryn.

Kurth was disabled but he and Kathleen loved to collect antiques, spend time watching old TV shows, watching football, and doing yard work and gardening together. Probably his favorite pastime was fishing with his friend, Steve Flick when they weren’t watching Saturday college football. He also loved to spend time with his granddaughter, Tylar, teaching her how to shoot and how to shop at thrift stores. He loved to play cars with his grandson, Axle, giving him rides on the mower, and letting him help water the garden.

Kurth is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two step-daughters, Allyson (Chad) Doyle and Amanda (Adam) Johnson; two grandchildren Tylar Matthews and Axle Doyle; his parents, Alan and Dorothy Lommen, Bismarck, ND; three sisters, Kristi (Gary) Houska, Grand Forks, ND, Jean (Don) Herauf, Dickinson, ND, and Beth (Bruce) Holm, Eckton, SD; a brother Scott Lommen; and many nieces and nephews.

Kurth will be missed by many but especially by his loving wife, Kathleen.
