CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) In the cold and rain, The Vikings golf team finished day one of the University of Jamestown Invitational tied for first place with the Host team, but as the sun came out for day two the Jimmies would earn the win.

With help from Michael Strain, The Jimmies were able to break the tie with the Vikings on day two. Strain bettered his first day score by one, shooting a 74 to finish. With a 149, the Jimmies Sophmore took the tournament win. Teammates Matt Vacek and Tyler Baukol tied for second place. The Jimmies team score of 607 earned them the invitational win.

The Vikings were led once again by Shane Ost who finished the two day tournament with a combined score of 152, which was good enough for fourth place. Ben Sorenson ended the tournament in seventh place after a 155 overall score. As a team the Vikings shot a 637, finishing in second place.

Despite the loss to the Jimmies, the Vikings had a number of strong performances.  Ost and Sorenson both finished in the top ten for a fourth straight tournament, while Casey Colemer tied for 10th with a season best score of 157 in the outing.

The Vikings women’s team was also in action. Haley Christofferson finished seventh, while teammate Alyssa Tait scored a 218 when play was finished. It is the third straight tournament Chrisofferson has finished with a score in the top ten.

The Vikings back on the course on September 19th at the Benson Golf Club in Minnesota for the University of Minnesota Morris Invitational.
