(NewsDakota.com)- The game was played in a steady down pour at Rollie Greeno Field as the University of Jamestown welcomed Wisconsin-Stout to town. The Blue Devils escaped with a 13-7 win and improved to 6-0 in the series with UJ.
Stout jumped out to a 13-0 first-half lead on an opening drive touchdown and a pair of second-quarter field goals. Hank Kujak’s only touchdown pass of the day came on 4th-and-goal to Trevor Mourning following the opening kick.
The Jimmie defense came out in the second-half recharged and didn’t allow another point. JT Petsch even picked off Kujak in the fourth-quarter to put the Jimmies at the Stout 45-yard line but Jamestown did not capitalize.
The Jimmies only touchdown came in the third quarter when Beau Eriksson found Trent Roemmich on 4th-down for a 17-yard touchdown pass. After four touchdown catches in 2012, this was Roemmich’s first touchdown of the season.
Jamestown ran the ball for just 50 yards on 31 attempts against the strong Blue Devils front-seven. Eriksson was 19-41 for 213 yards a touchdown and an interception.
The Jimmies will make the long trek down to Rapid City, SD this weekend to battle the Hardrockers of South Dakota Mines at 6pm CT on 1400 KQDJ and NewsDakota.com.
