(NewsDakota.com)  The Griggs Barnes County Titans took their show on the road last Friday night for almost a four hour trip from Cooperstown to Dickinson, for both teams first Division 2A West Region match up.  The game was played on the beautiful campus of Dickinson State University, the Titans of GBC beat the Titans of Dickinson Trinity 33-18.  Griggs Barnes County improves to 1-2, Dickinson Trinity drops to 0-3.

Trinity scored two touchdowns in the first quarter to take an early lead, QB Willy Jahner would connect with Joe Mayer and Jace Kruger from 11 yards out and 34 yards respectively.  GBC would drive 80 yards and get their first score of the game as fullback Derek Eberle would run it in from two yards out with about five minutes left in the second quarter to make the score 12-6 Trinity at the half.

In the third quarter, the score would go back-and-forth, GBC would score first to take their first lead of the game when Senior running-back Wyatt Steckler carried it in from seven yards out, the extra point kick by Cody Horn was good, making it 13-12 GBC.  Dickinson Trinity would retake the lead when Cole Beck would rush for a touchdown making it 18-13.  But that would be the only score for Trinity in the second half as GBC would score three more times.

Just as the fourth quarter started, Griggs Barnes County was fourth and two on the 45 yard line of Trinity, Head Coach Davy Zinkey decided to try and get the first down and it paid off in a big way, as Steckler would rush from 45 yards out and get his second touchdown of the game, putting GBC back up 19-18.  QB Jayden Grover would connect with Cody Horn from nine yards out for another touchdown.  The final score for GBC and putting the game away was Parker Painter, when he intercepted a pass from Trinity’s Jahner, Painter ran to the end zone for a 47 yard touchdown interception.

Wyatt Steckler carried the ball 32 times for 266 yards and two touchdowns, Derek Eberle had 9 carries for 39 yards and one touchdown, Nick Muncy had 11 carries for 34 yards.

QB Jayden Grover for GBC completed three out of five passes for 10 yards.  Trinity’s Jahner completed nine of 16 passes for 141 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
