N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Whole farm preparation, marketing and a business plan can be beneficial to raising a small farm’s profitability. To assist small farms with what they need to prosper FARRMS, the foundation for sustainability in Medina, will be offering the first of eight Farm Beginnings sessions for new or beginning farmers starting with Whole Farm Management Oct. 12, at FARRMS in Medina. These eight CLASSES are not offered ONLINE also. Make your farm dreams come true.

FARRMS, in Medina, offers this exciting educational opportunity for the next generation of farmers. This course is geared towards anyone currently farming or interested in farming with sustainable methods. Experienced farmers and agricultural professionals teach these classes.

The seven daylong education sessions run through January. They are taught/facilitated by experienced local farmers and include:

? Business Planning/Record Keeping/Taxes –

Classes run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays from October through January 2014. Eight sessions will be held at the FARRMS Karl Limvere Memorial Classroom in Medina. The day begins at 9 a.m. with homework review and ends at 4 p.m. Lunch is on your own at the Medina Café or brown bag.

“FARRMS Sustainable Farm Series provided us with the information and support we needed, ” said Scott Hanson, Llama Trax Gardens in Valley City. “Through hands-on experiences, seminars, and teachers who have ‘been there, done that’ – that helped us decide to go forward with our own Consumer-Supported Agriculture business venture.”
