(NewsDakota.com) Going for and completing a two-point conversion proved to be the winning score in Linton-HMB’s 8-7 victory against the Oakes Tornadoes on homecoming night Friday.
Both teams scored within the last three minutes of the first quarter. Brooks Flyberg connected on a six yard pass to Ryan Schneider to cap off the Lion’s only scoring drive. Flyberg threw a two-point conversion pass to make the score 8-0.
On the next drive for Oakes, with under 30 seconds remaining in the first, Erik Loepp ran into the end zone from five yards out; Bryce Meehl’s extra point was good.
Linton-HMB and Oakes are now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in Class A Region 1. The Tornadoes remain on the road next week when they head to Northern Cass. Coverage Friday starts at 6:30 with kickoff at 7 p.m. on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com.
