CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City will be getting its twin movie theaters back tentatively by November first. Cinema Flix owner Jeremy Zako of Bismarck also owns a theater in Hazen. He says the screen, digital projectors, concession stands nearly everything in the Valley City theater will be renovated.
Zako says Casey Stoudt provided a generous lease agreement for the building next to Stoudt Ross Ford with the possibility to purchase the property later.
Zako says he will hire one full-time person for the Valley City theater and 10 to 18 part-time workers.
Zako says Wick construction of Valley City will be doing the renovation inside the building.
Director of Economic Development Jennifer Feist says a lot of people have been working for nearly 2 years to secure an investor and the Zako family was a good fit for Valley City.
Feist says once Zako put the news on their Cinema Flix FaceBook page more than 350 hits were registered from Valley City applauding the news in the first 10 minutes of the posting.
Feist says $50,000 dollars in the city/county sales tax fund used for economic development will be loaned out to the new business through the flex pace program.
The Barnes County board of commissioners unanimously approved of releasing $25,000 from the development fund on September 3 and the remaining $25,000 from the city of Valley City is expected to be approved in the near future.
