(NewsDakota.com)  The Griggs Barnes County Titans kicked of their 2013 season in a familiar place last night.  Central Cass and GBC were both in the Division 2AA East Region last season, this year the Titans move to the west while the Squirrels stay in the east.  The Titans also picked up the Pingree/Buchanan/Kensal coop.  GBC fell short in their season opener 32-14.

Central Cass would strike first, when returning Senior quarterback Kyle Schultz would pass it to Adam Breske for the first touchdown of the game with about seven minutes left in the first quarter.  The Titans would come right back and get their first touchdown of the season as QB Jaydon Grover pitched it to Senior running back Wyatt Steckler, he would fake the reverse and take it in from 40 yards out.  The Squirrels would score again in the first quarter when Schulz connected with Breske again.

Central Cass would hold the Titans scoreless in the second and third quarters, getting two touchdowns of their own, leading 32-6 at the end of three.  They completed all of their 2-point conversions.

Griggs Barnes County would score another touchdown with about two minutes left in the fourth quarter, when freshman running back Nick Muncy scored from 22 yards out. 

Kyle Schultz was the player of the game for Central Cass, throwing two touchdowns.  Wyatt Steckler was the player of the game for GBC, scoring one touchdown.

Next up for GBC will be Friday, September 6th at Valley City State University against new comer to Division 2AA, Maple Valley/Enderlin.  Pregame will start at 6:30p, kickoff at 7pm on FM 103.1 The Raven and newsdakota.com.
