S.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School football team started out the 2013 season with an impressive 39-13 victory at against Britton-Hecla South Dakota Friday night.
The Tornadoes scored the opening 39 points of the contest, all in the first half. After throwing an interception on his first throw of the year, Oakes quarterback Bryce Meehl connected with Ethan Zetocha on the next drive for a 77 yard touchdown. Meehl also had touchdown passes to Preston Anderson, Cole Ehrlin and Carter Zetocha of 38, 48 and six yards. Blake Hollingsworth added two scores on the ground from one and five yards out.
The Braves (0-1) scored late in the contest with two touchdown runs from Nathan Jones of six and 17 yards.
Oakes (1-0) will start Class A Region I play at home next Friday with a contest against Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm.
