Robert F. Grabinger, 83, of Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Robert F. Grabinger was born on December 18, 1929, at Turtle Lake, ND, the son of Norbert and Inez (Cooper) Grabinger. He grew up in the Windsor and Cleveland, ND area and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1948. Robert worked for Northwestern Bell for 37 years and retired in 1985. Then he began Grabinger Marine in Jamestown and has been active in the business since.
Robert was in the US Army from 1952-1954 in Germany. He married Iola Christine Sund on May 10, 1952. She died on February 9, 1954. Robert later married Lois Ann Sund on November 27, 1954 at Windsor, ND.
Robert was a Lifetime member of the following organizations: Jamestown Sertoma, V.F.W., Elks, and Knights of Columbus. He was also an active member of the American Legion, 40 et 8, and Telephone Pioneers. Robert was a charter member of the Windsor Horse club and the District Chair of the Democratic MPL. He was a member and former trustee of the Basilica of St. James with whom he was a former trustee.
Robert is survived by his wife, Lois Grabinger; eight children, Mike (Jeanette), Rob (Cathy), Pat (Teresa), Rick (Deb), Tim (Jolene), John (Deb), Theresa (Gerry) Entzi, and Judi (Jeff) Hintz; twenty-two grandchildren, Mike Jr. (Angie) Grabinger, Jeremy (Jen) Grabinger, Chad Grabinger, Jason (Candace) Grabinger, Luke (Asia) Grabinger, Josh (Mary) Grabinger, Bert Grabinger, Matthew Grabinger, Nicolas Entzi, Zach (Michelle) Hintz, Julie (Jeremiah) Gackle, Vanessa Grabinger, Kasina (Colin) Grant, Jessica (Nathan) Stolen, Jenny (Eric) Miner, Fawn (Doug) Glade, Alyssa Entzi, Mikyla Hintz, Chloe Grabinger, Katie Grabinger, Natasha Grabinger, and Alexis Grabinger; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and granddaughter, Christina Johnson.
Eucharist of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.
Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2013 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND, with the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Interment: St. Pauline’s Cemetery, Windsor, ND.
