E. Poehls, 93, formerly of LaMoure, ND, passed away August 27, 2013, at her daughter Ann’s home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Marceal Elizabeth, daughter of Perry and Christina Clark was born September 3, 1919 in Grand Rapids, North Dakota, where she grew up and attended school. She was united in marriage to August F. Poehls on January 19, 1941 in LaMoure. August passed away on October 12, 1990, and Marceal continued to live in LaMoure until February of 2007, when she went to live with her daughter, Ann in West Fargo. Marceal had been a member of the High Prairie Lutheran Church since 1938, and was also a member of the LaMoure Legion Auxiliary.
Marceal was best known as an excellent cook and baker. On holidays, she always made everyone’s favorite pies and cookies. She loved playing pinochle and played right up to the last two months of her life.
She is survived by her three children, Marceal Darlene (Kelly) Comer of Pine Springs, MN, Richard August (Alice) Poehls of Chevy Chase, MD, and Ann Marie Romsdal of West Fargo, ND; five grandsons, James (Julie) Lebahn, Todd (Brandi) Lebahn, August Poehls, Andrew Poehls, and William Poehls; and six great-grandchildren, Lexi and Annika Lebahn, Camden, Elleana and Kasen Lebahn and Leyden Poehls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Auggie, and her six siblings, Wayne, Vernal, Sheldon, Allen and Percy Clark, and Mary Emerson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure, with the funeral to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at High Prairie Cemetery near LaMoure. An on-line guestbook may be signed at www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com
