N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Superintendent of the Jamestown School District Robert Lech announced that Jamestown Public Schools will be dismissing at 1:00 for the remainder of the week, from Tuesday August 27 to Friday, August 30th.

“While this is certainly an unusual occurrence, as we assessed our facilities through the course of today and factored in the forecasted heat index, we believe that it is in the best interest of our students and the educational environment to operate on the shortened schedule for the duration of this week. Understand that while some of our schools do have full or partial air-conditioning, it was not feasible to make a school closure decision on a school-by-school basis. Please be aware that, if the weather does improve and allow for a full day of instruction, we will notify you through this calling system.” Robert Lech said.

Superintendent Lech stated that their staff will utilize this additional time for teaming time and other professional development opportunities.

Additionally, The open house at Jamestown Middle School, “What’s Poppin’ at JMS?”, originally scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, has been postponed to Tuesday, September 10, 7:00-8:00 pm.
