CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota Highway Patrol identified the driver killed in a rollover as 39-year-old Steven Welken of Valley City.

Captain Bryan Niewind says Welken was traveling southbound when he lost control of the 2003 Jeep Wrangler, entered the ditch and rolled about 5 miles south of Valley City about 2:50am Saturday morning.

Niewind says Welken was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the roof of the vehicle, which proceeded to roll on top of and pin the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
