N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A Fargo man who ran from a two-vehicle accident into a corn field in Northern Dickey County on Wednesday morning was captured in Oakes roughly 24 hours from fleeing the scene.

The Dickey County Sheriff’s office received a tip that 37 year old Gabriel Ekstrom may have been staying at the Travel Inn Motel in Oakes overnight under an alias name. When authorities arrived, they found and subsequently arrested him without incident shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday.

Ekstrom was transported by ambulance to the Oakes Community Hospital for injuries. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Ekstrom faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of an injury crash, misdemeanor charges of driving under suspension, aggravated reckless driving and eluding. He was transported to the Barnes County Jail in Valley City.

Ekstrom was behind the wheel of a company truck based out of Hickson North Dakota when it collided with another truck at the intersection of North Dakota Highway 1 and Dickey County Road 1 around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Sergeant Troy Hischer with the Patrol says the driver of the other truck, 26 year old Kyle Severance of Dickey, and two passengers in Ekstrom’s truck, 33 year old Nathaniel Nash of Fargo and 24 year old Jose Montero of West Fargo were injured and taken to the Oakes Community Hospital.
