CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Class B Section One Championship pitted Kindred against the host team Enderlin, at Hendrickson Field on Saturday, July 28.

Enderlin came into the day needing just one win to claim the championship. For Kindred to win the trophy, they needed two victories. Enderlin was first on the scoreboard when the leadoff batter, Dalton Bartholomay, scored on an RBI ground out from Grant Lindeman. That was the only lead Enderlin would have in the game. Kindred answered the run with three of their own in the second. While Enderlin’s Gareth Hanson lead a mid-game rally with his first home run of the season that scored Spencer Gillund, it was quickly trumped by Kindred who had two home runs in the 4th from Christian Danielson and Fletcher Andel. Enderlin could not rebound from that blow as they fell in the game by 11-7. The loss meant that a second game was needed to decide a champion.

In game two, it was Danielson who started the games scoring for Kindred, but once again that didn’t mean much. In the top of the second, Hanson tied the game with his second home run of the afternoon.  The next batter up, Grant Lindeman, proceeded to give the host team the lead with the second home run. Three runs later the inning came to an end. Enderlin had another strong showing in the fifth inning posting four runs and going on to claim victory 16-4 in the sixth inning.

On the mound for Enderlin, Thomas Lindgren dominated, striking out 13 batters. The next challenge for Enderlin comes at the Class B State Tournament in Beulah, North Dakota on July 1st.
