CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) As the weekend arises the Valley City Babe Ruth team will be preparing for the State Tournament coming up next week in Carrington.
Valley City earned their ticket to the game by defeating Oakes 9-2 on Tuesday July, 23rd. In the game, Jesse Johnson almost completed a no-hitter, but a single to lead off the seventh inning broke it up.
Jordan Magnuson was solid at the dish, driving in one run and going 3-4. Johnson helped his own cause by hitting his way on base twice and scoring a run.
After the tournament win, Coach Lance Lukes had this to say, “This was something pretty special that happened. This goes back to last year’s district tournament and how hard it was too loose the way we did in that. The boys that came back stated that this was where they wanted to get, and today they brought that to reality.”
The state tournament will begin, on August 2nd, and will be aired on 103.1 The Raven, and NewsDakota.com.
