Arden Carlson, 88, of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

     Arden K. Carlson was born on April 2, 1925, in Ambrose, ND, the son of Andrew and Gina (Knutson) Carlson. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural school, graduating from Ambrose High School in 1943. Arden attended telegraphy school in Minneapolis, MN. He met and married Phyllis Maud Kriese on June 5, 1948 in Rockford, MN. Arden worked as a depot agent for 38 years with Northern Pacific railroad, later Burlington Northern, and they settled in Bowdon, ND. After he retired, they moved to Buffalo, MN and spent winters in Pahrump, NV. They sold their home in Buffalo, ND and lived in Pahrump, NV until 2010 when they moved to the Heritage Centre, Jamestown.

     He was proud to have been a member of the Ambrose Softball Team which won the North Dakota Softball Championship in 1944-1945. Arden enjoyed golf and spending time with his family.

     Arden is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Carlson, Jamestown; son, Brian (Bonnie) Carlson, Jamestown; daughter, Bonnie Symon, Lafayette, CA; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Bob Symon; sister, Edna Gutjahr; brother, Norman Carlson; and great grandson, Tucker Van Gilder.

     Memorial Service: Arrangements are pending with Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
