CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The District Six Tournament got underway for the Valley City Babe Ruth team this weekend, and the results could not have been better.
In game one, Valley City took on Linton. Jesse Johnson and Drew Oberlander both were strong at the plate for the Valley City, going 2-3 with two runs batted in by Oberlander.
On the mound, It was Dalton Ondracek who gave Linton fits. The Valley city pitcher struck out five batters and allowed just one run in the game. Valley City earned the day one victory, defeating Linton by a score of 4-1.
On day two of the competition, Valley City met up with Steele. It didn’t take long for Valley City to flex their muscle, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings. Lead by Nate Rodriguez who finished the night with six RBI’s, Valley city finished off Steele in 5 innings by a score of 17-0.
On the mound, Jesse Johnson flirted with perfection allowing just one hit, walking no batters and striking out four Steele players.
Valley City Returns to play in the winners bracket on Monday, July 22nd, when they take on Oaks at 1pm. The game will be played at Townsend Field in LaMoure.
