(NewsDakota.com) Oakes and Valley City will meet on Tuesday at Townsend Field in LaMoure with the winner advancing to the State Class B Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament next week.

Valley City defeated Oakes earlier on Monday night in the third round of the District 6 tournament by the score of 10-1 to give VC a berth in the title game on Tuesday. Then to start loser-out play, Steele took down the host team LaMoure 11-2.

The final game of the night pitted Steele and Oakes in another loser-out contest. Oakes trailed in the contest 10-1 in the fifth inning but rallied late, including scoring six runs with two outs in the seventh, to send Steele home for the year with a 17-15 victory in eight innings.

The Championship round is Tuesday afternoon at 4:30. Should Oakes win the game, a winner-take-all second game will be played 20 minutes after.
