N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A gate counter has kept track of vehicles and people that enter Fort Seward and Frontier Village in Jamestown and the counter has shown a growth in visitors.

Searle Swedlund, Buffalo City Tourism Foundations Executive Director, says “The gate counts starts the beginning of April and number to this point in the summer.”

For 2011, gate numbers reached 19,448. In 2012, the numbers increased to 22,562.

Since the counts have started in April of this year, the number of visitors that have been to Frontier Village and Fort Seward has reached 24,444. That’s more than 1,500 visitors more than 2012 and almost 5,000 more than in 2011.

Searle said, “People come from all corners of the states and world to Jamestown looking for the North Dakota experience and story. The people of Jamestown are wonderful ambassadors for North Dakota.”
