N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota Game & Fish Department has confirmed more Silver carp in the James River.
Several were caught south of Jamestown two weeks ago. The invasive fish, known for leaping out of the water, can wreck eco-systems and pose a danger to boaters.
Fred Rykman, District Fisheries Supervisor, says Silver carp made their way up the James River from the Missouri River during the summer flooding two years ago.
Rykman said they know the carp have survived in North Dakota waters, but there is still a question whether the fish can reproduce. That’s what biologists are trying to determine.
